• When in 'The Wizard of Oz' the scarecrow, the tinman and the lion all are in search of something they had all along. (a brain, courage, and a heart).

• Watching a horror movie and knowing that when the character goes into the basement all alone, in the dark, in a storm - they are likely to be the next victim.
• In 'Romeo and Juiliet' how we (the audience) know the lovers don't get a happy ending before they even meet.

• When someone screws up and a person tells them "Good Job" or "Nice". (Sarcasm)
• In Shrek I:

         Donkey: Can I stay with you?
         Shrek: Of course.
         Donkey: Really?
         Shrek: NO.

wHAT iS iRONY?

Irony is the difference and/or contrast between what seems to be true and what isn't.

• Verbal Irony: when something is said opposite or in contrast to what someone else said.
• Situational Irony: when a situation happens in contrast to what was thought to happen.
• Dramatic Irony: when a character believes or says something and we/ the audience knows it isn't.
